For a new business post, select your Facebook Page and Instagram account together in Meta Business Suite. An existing Facebook post needs a separate Instagram version; personal-profile sharing uses different controls.

## Can you cross-post a Facebook post to Instagram?

**Answer:** Yes, when you prepare a new post for both destinations. In Meta Business Suite, select your Facebook Page and Instagram account under Post to before publishing or scheduling. If the Facebook post is already live, prepare a new Instagram post from the original media.

The answer depends on what 'Facebook post' means. Meta Business Suite's documented workflow is for a Page and an Instagram account you can manage. Meta also offers sharing between accounts in Accounts Center for supported Facebook app posts. Those are different controls and should not be treated as one universal cross-post button.

Start by identifying the source account, the destination account, and whether the item is still a draft. A new Page post can be composed for both destinations in one Business Suite workflow. A post already visible on Facebook has passed that selection point. The dependable editorial route is to make a new Instagram post using your original photo or video, with a caption written for Instagram.

Do not confuse this with Facebook's separate feature for crossposting videos between Facebook Pages. That feature does not describe sending a Page post to Instagram. Before releasing anything, check that you selected the intended Instagram identity and that the asset and caption make sense there.
- New Page post: choose both destinations in Meta Business Suite.
- Personal Facebook post: inspect Accounts Center sharing in the Facebook app.
- Already live: publish a new Instagram version from the original asset.

## Check access to both destinations

**Answer:** Open the correct business portfolio and confirm that you can publish to the Facebook Page and the intended Instagram account. Seeing an account in a list is less useful than confirming permission to create the actual post.

For the Page route, sign in to Meta Business Suite and select the portfolio that contains the Page and Instagram account. In Create post, inspect Post to. Both destinations should be selectable. If Instagram is absent, check its connection to the portfolio and your access to that Instagram asset before rewriting the post.

Meta's Page access guidance distinguishes people with Facebook access from people with task access, and says task access can manage Page content in Business Suite. Access to the Page does not by itself prove permission on every linked Instagram asset. Ask the portfolio owner to inspect the precise destination and content permission when a teammate can see a Page but cannot publish to Instagram.

Teams with several similar Pages or regional Instagram accounts should write the approved destination names in the content brief. Account selection is part of approval: a perfect caption on the wrong public account is still a publishing error.
- Record the exact Page and Instagram handles.
- Check publish access on each asset.
- Resolve account connection issues before composing a large batch.

## Publish a new Page post to Facebook and Instagram

**Answer:** In Meta Business Suite, choose Create post, select both destinations under Post to, add suitable media, customize each network's text, review the previews, and choose Publish or Schedule.

Open Meta Business Suite on a computer and choose Create post from Home or Content. Under Post to, select the correct Facebook Page and Instagram account. Add the approved photo or video and write the post details. Meta's desktop guidance allows separate text for Facebook and Instagram; use that field instead of forcing the same link, mention, and call to action into both captions.

Check the creative in each destination preview. Instagram needs an appropriate visual post, so a Facebook text announcement or link preview may require a designed image or short video. Inspect crop, on-image text, caption opening, any tags, and the action a viewer can actually take. The format controls shown by Meta for the selected accounts decide what can be released together.

If the campaign has a fixed release time, select the scheduling option, verify the displayed date and time, and choose Schedule. Find the item in the scheduled content view and confirm that both destinations are present. When the time arrives, open the public Facebook and Instagram posts separately. A scheduled item is evidence that the queue accepted it, not evidence that both posts went live correctly.

For a one-off post, the same destination and preview checks apply before Publish. Save the two public URLs afterwards. If only one destination succeeds, correct the missing side deliberately; repeating the original two-destination submission could create a duplicate on the successful side.
- Select both destinations before the final review.
- Use each platform's text field for its own caption.
- Verify two public posts and retain two URLs.

## Use Accounts Center for a personal Facebook post

**Answer:** If you post from a personal Facebook profile, check the Facebook app's Accounts Center sharing controls for the linked Instagram account. Confirm the Instagram destination while creating each eligible post.

Meta's Help Center says posts made on Facebook can be shared to an Instagram account when the accounts have been added to Accounts Center. This is a connected-account path, distinct from the Page workflow in Meta Business Suite. It is useful when the post comes from your own Facebook profile and you want to share an eligible new post as you make it.

In the Facebook app, open Accounts Center and inspect the sharing-across-profiles settings for the Facebook account and Instagram destination. Then return to the new post composer and check whether the Instagram sharing choice appears for the specific format. Meta changes app labels and supports different options by post type and account, so the active composer is the practical check before you publish.

If the Instagram option is missing, check that the right accounts are linked and sharing is enabled. Review the asset each time, especially when the Facebook post relies on a link or text-only message.
- Check the Facebook source and Instagram destination in Accounts Center.
- Confirm the option in the composer for this post type.
- Inspect the Instagram result after publishing.

## Move an already published Facebook idea to Instagram

**Answer:** Use the original media and create a fresh Instagram post. The Meta creation flows reviewed here do not establish a general one-click method for retrospectively transferring an arbitrary live Facebook post.

Locate the original approved image or video rather than capturing a screenshot of the Facebook post. A screenshot carries Facebook interface chrome, reduces control over crop and quality, and may put a link or caption text into an image where it is hard to read. If you no longer own the media or cannot confirm permission, stop and resolve that first.

Rewrite the caption from the underlying message. A Facebook post that says 'read the article at this link' needs a different destination instruction on Instagram. If the Facebook version uses a Facebook-specific Page mention, replace it with a valid Instagram handle only after checking the account. If the original copy includes a date-sensitive offer, verify that it is still current before publishing the second version.

Publish the new Instagram version through the Instagram app or Business Suite. Compare the live post with the approved media, caption, and destination. Keep the original Facebook and new Instagram URLs together so later edits do not obscure which version people saw.
- Recover the original asset and its usage permission.
- Rewrite destination instructions for Instagram.
- Store both public URLs as separate releases.

## Adapt one idea into two useful captions

**Answer:** Keep the approved fact and visual consistent, then change the opening and action to suit each destination. This avoids a copied caption that points Instagram viewers to a Facebook-only interaction.

Worked example: Willow Bench Studio is a fictional furniture maker created for this guide. The approved facts are that it will hold an open studio on Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; visitors can see three new desk designs; admission is free. This is a writing example, not a real event, customer, or measured campaign.

Facebook Page draft: 'Open studio this Saturday, October 17, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by Willow Bench Studio to see three new desk designs and ask how each was built. Admission is free. Event details: [approved Facebook event URL].' The Facebook call to action works only if the team has created and checked that event page.

Instagram draft: 'Three new desks, one open studio. Join us Saturday, October 17, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to see the joinery up close. Free admission. The visit details are in our profile.' This Instagram action requires a working profile destination. If there is none, replace the final sentence with a useful detail already in the post; do not promise a link that does not exist.

Use the same rights-cleared photograph only if it crops well in both previews. Keep the date and time identical. Approve each caption and destination together, then choose both accounts in Business Suite. The example demonstrates adaptation, not evidence that a particular posting time or wording will improve reach.
- Same verified facts and media rights.
- Different opening and destination instruction where needed.
- Separate preview and public verification for each network.

## Diagnose a missing Instagram post

**Answer:** Check destination selection, access, format, queue state, and live state in that order. Each check identifies a different fix and prevents accidental duplicates.

If Instagram is absent from Post to, check the selected portfolio, account connection, and your permission on the Instagram asset. If Instagram is selectable but the composer rejects the post, inspect the selected format and media in Meta's current interface. A Facebook-only text or link-led asset may need a genuine Instagram visual version before it can be posted there.

If the item appears scheduled, open it and confirm that the intended accounts and time are attached. At release time, inspect both public accounts and any platform notice. When one side is public and the other is not, preserve the successful URL and create or repair only the missing side. An ambiguous publish response deserves inspection before a retry.

For a personal profile post, return to the Facebook app's Accounts Center controls and the composer used for that item. Sharing settings do not turn a Page post into a personal post, and Page access does not substitute for a connected personal account. The source account matters as much as the destination.
- Missing destination: inspect connection and permission.
- Rejected creative: inspect the destination's format controls.
- Partial release: inspect public URLs before resubmitting.

## Keep a small cross-post release record

**Answer:** For each idea, record the approved source facts, two captions, asset version, destination handles, queue state, and public URLs. This is enough to tell a missing post from a different approved version.

A useful row can be simple: campaign ID; approved fact source; media filename and rights owner; Facebook Page; Instagram handle; Facebook caption version; Instagram caption version; intended release time and time zone; approver; scheduled state; Facebook URL; Instagram URL; exception. One row per idea keeps the two outcomes related without pretending they are the same post.

Make a material change reopen review. A new offer, different date, changed visual, or redirected link can make a previously approved post inaccurate. Update the affected caption and preview, then check the current queue or published copy. The record is there to preserve the release decision, not to create paperwork for every punctuation change.

After publication, first ask whether both approved versions went live correctly. Then use available analytics and destination data to evaluate whether viewers took the intended next step. A shared publishing workflow does not prove incremental reach, engagement, or sales.
- Keep distinct public URLs for Facebook and Instagram.
- Reapprove changed facts, assets, or destinations.
- Separate delivery accuracy from audience results.

## Choose the right cross-post route

The source account and post state determine the publishing path.

| Starting point | Action | Final check |
| --- | --- | --- |
| New Facebook Page post | Select the Page and Instagram account under Post to in Meta Business Suite | Two destination previews and two public URLs |
| New personal Facebook post | Check Accounts Center sharing and the Facebook app composer | Instagram sharing option for this post and public result |
| Already public Facebook post | Create a new Instagram post from the original media | Adapted caption, correct asset, and Instagram URL |
| Another person's Facebook post | Get permission and source media before making your own Instagram version | Ownership, credit, and publication rights |

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I cross-post a new Facebook Page post to Instagram?

Yes. In Meta Business Suite, select the Facebook Page and Instagram account under Post to, add a suitable visual, customize the text for each destination, and publish or schedule. Check both public posts afterwards.

### Can I send an old Facebook post to Instagram after it is live?

The Meta creation flows reviewed here do not establish a general retrospective transfer control. Use the original approved media to create a new Instagram post, adapt its caption, and verify the new public URL.

### Can a personal Facebook profile share to Instagram?

Meta documents sharing Facebook posts to an Instagram account through Accounts Center when the accounts are added there. Check the Facebook app's sharing setting and the option shown for the specific new post.

### Why does Instagram not appear in Meta Business Suite?

Check the selected business portfolio, whether the intended Instagram account is connected, and whether you have content publishing permission on that Instagram asset. Ask the portfolio owner to review access if needed.

### Will a text-only Facebook post work on Instagram?

Plan an Instagram visual version. A Facebook text or link-led update does not automatically become a suitable Instagram media post; the active composer determines which formats it accepts.

### Should the captions be identical on both networks?

They can share the same approved facts, but adjust links, mentions, the opening, and the next step when the Instagram viewer cannot use the Facebook-specific version.

### Does a scheduled item prove both posts went live?

No. Inspect the scheduled destinations and then open the public Facebook and Instagram posts separately. Keep both URLs in the release record.
