## How much does Grok cost in 2026?

**Answer:** Grok is free to start, and the new paid plans cost $8 (Plus), $30 (Premium), $100 (Super) or $200 (Ultra) a month. Paying yearly costs $80, $300, $1,000 or $2,000, which is ten months' price for twelve months.

Grok is made by xAI, which its documentation now calls SpaceXSI. These plans belong to The X Subscription, which bundles Grok, the Cursor coding product and X benefits into one plan. New customers start on it, and Apple's App Store listing for the Grok app shows a major update event for The X Subscription that starts on October 13, 2026. Grok and Cursor draw from one shared weekly usage pool, so a plan's price covers both.

List prices exclude sales tax, which may be added at checkout. Existing SuperGrok, Cursor and X Premium plans continue at their current price unless the customer changes or cancels them.
- Free: $0, with limited usage and standard X.
- Plus: $8 a month, or $80 a year ($7 a month), with base usage.
- Premium: $30 a month, or $300 a year ($25 a month), with 4x Plus's usage.
- Super: $100 a month, or $1,000 a year ($84 a month), with 15x Plus's usage.
- Ultra: $200 a month, or $2,000 a year ($167 a month), with 50x Plus's usage.
- Team seats: Premium $30, Super $100 and Ultra $200 per seat, with no Plus seat.

## What does each Grok plan include, and who is it for?

**Answer:** Plus is the entry plan for light Grok use and X creator tools. Premium adds video generation, Grok Bot, the latest Grok models and the Cursor agent tools, and Super and Ultra add larger usage pools, priority access at peak times and earliest access to new models.

The plan table on cursor.com/pricing, which sells The X Subscription, recommends Premium for new AI users, Super for daily agent users and Ultra for power users. It recommends Plus for social creators with limited AI usage and the Teams plan for professionals who work with others.

Plus costs $8 and lists a shared AI usage pool, Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build, Grok API access, and X benefits such as a checkmark, fewer timeline ads and creator tools. The page says Plus includes Grok models only, and it calls Plus 'Our introductory plan'. Which Grok models Plus uses is not stated (not verified).

Premium costs $30, is marked 'Most popular', and adds 4x Plus's usage, the latest Grok models, video generation, Grok Bot, faster Chat responses, and Cursor features such as cloud agents, code hosting and AI code review. Super adds 15x Plus's usage and priority model access at peak times. Ultra adds 50x Plus's usage and earliest access to all products and models.

X benefits follow the plan too. Free gets standard X, Plus gets a checkmark, creator tools and fewer ads, and Premium, Super and Ultra get full X Premium+ benefits once you connect a personal X account. Accounts managed by an organization cannot be connected.
- Free and Plus list no video generation.
- Plus lists no Grok Bot, and Plus is not offered to teams.
- No plan includes an allowance for third-party models in Cursor, such as Claude or GPT.
- xAI's pricing documentation lists no per-plan image or video counts (not verified).

## Is Grok free, and what are the free plan's limits?

**Answer:** Yes, Grok is free to start. The Free plan costs $0 and lists limited Chat, image generation (Imagine) and Grok Build, with no video generation, no Grok API access and no Grok Bot. The pages we read give no message or image counts for the free allowance, so that number is not verified.

xAI's Grok documentation says Grok is free to start and that paid plans raise your limits. The plan table on cursor.com/pricing marks Free usage as 'Limited' and lists Chat, Imagine and Grok Build as limited rather than fully included. Free users can post, reply and follow on X but get no Premium checkmark.

The FAQ adds that a paid user who reaches the weekly limit still has access to Grok's free tier limits on Chat and Voice, and that these reset on their own schedule.

Two media limits are worth knowing before you rely on Imagine. xAI says generated images and videos carry a Grok watermark and there is no setting to remove it. It also says 720p videos fall back to 480p once you reach the 720p cap for your tier, and the pages we read do not state those caps.
- Free includes: limited Chat, limited Imagine image generation, limited Grok Build and standard X.
- Free does not include: video generation, Grok API access, Grok Bot or the X Premium checkmark.
- Not stated: how many messages, images or minutes of Voice the free allowance gives (not verified).

## How do Grok's weekly usage limits work, and what runs out first?

**Answer:** Each paid seat gets one weekly usage pool shared across Grok Chat, Imagine, Voice, Build and Grok Bot and the Cursor coding tools, so whichever product you use most empties it first. Premium has 4x, Super 15x and Ultra 50x the Plus pool, and the pool is shown as a percentage used rather than in messages or tokens.

xAI replaced separate daily limits for each product with one weekly pool. Its FAQ says you can spend the pool on any Grok product, that it resets every week on a schedule shown in the Usage tab, and that products cost different amounts because they need different compute. A chat message uses little compute, while a high-quality video or a long coding task uses far more.

Because Grok and Cursor draw from the same included pool, heavy Cursor work lowers what is left for Grok chat and Imagine, and the reverse. The pool covers eligible first-party usage only. Third-party models in Cursor are not included and are paid from your prepaid credit.

When you reach the weekly limit, paid features pause until it resets, while Grok's free tier limits on Chat and Voice stay available. You can buy Extra Usage Credits, upgrade to a larger plan or turn on Auto Top Up. On team plans, each paid seat has its own pool and seats do not share pools, while the team shares one prepaid balance for extra usage.
- Check usage under Settings, then Usage, on web and mobile: it shows a percentage used, a breakdown by product, the weekly reset date and your Extra Usage Credits balance.
- The heaviest draws xAI names are high-quality video generation and long coding tasks.
- Not published: the pool in messages, tokens, images or minutes (not verified).

## What does Grok cost on top of the plan price?

**Answer:** Five things can cost extra: Extra Usage Credits once the weekly pool runs out (from $5), third-party models in Cursor (paid from the first use), Grok API calls (billed separately), sales tax, and extra team seats. Credits cost more per action than included usage, so staying inside your plan is the cheaper habit.

Extra Usage Credits are priced at standard rates, which xAI says makes the cost per action higher than the effective rate you get from your plan's included usage. You can buy as little as $5 from the Usage tab on web, and purchased credits expire one year after purchase unless stated otherwise. xAI's FAQ says upgrading gives significantly more weekly usage at a lower cost per action than repeatedly buying credits, and that upgrading is likely better value if you regularly pass your limit.

Auto Top-up is optional and does nothing until you turn it on. When on, it charges your saved payment method when your prepaid credit falls below the threshold you choose. A separate monthly additional usage limit works as a spending cap. Adding credit does not raise that cap, so extra usage can stop even while credit remains.

Premium and above include generous usage of Grok models but no allowance for third-party models. Third-party models in Cursor, such as Claude or GPT, are billed at API list prices from the first use and paid from your prepaid credit.

One source conflict and one gap are worth knowing. The FAQ says Extra Usage Credits can currently be bought only on the web, while the iOS App Store listing shows in-app purchases for Extra Usage Credits of $5, $20, $50 and $100, and we could not tell which is current. The pages we read also do not state commercial-use terms for generated images, video or text (not verified).
- Extra Usage Credits: from $5 a purchase, priced at standard rates, expire one year after purchase.
- Auto Top-up: off by default; the monthly additional usage limit is a separate control.
- Grok API: billed separately at standard model rates.
- Tax: list prices do not include sales tax or VAT.
- Extra team seats: a mid-cycle seat is charged a prorated amount for the remaining days.

## Is the Grok API included in my plan?

**Answer:** Paid plans include Grok API access, but API usage is billed separately at standard model rates and does not draw from your plan's usage pool. The flagship grok-4.7 costs $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens for prompts under 200,000 tokens.

The plan table lists Grok API access from Plus upward and none on Free. xAI's API documentation prices grok-4.7 at $2.00 per million input tokens, $0.50 per million cached input tokens and $6.00 per million output tokens when the prompt is under 200,000 tokens, and $4.00, $1.00 and $12.00 above that. The model has a 500,000 token context window. xAI's release notes place the Grok 4.7 launch in September 2026.

Media and voice are priced separately. Imagine images cost $0.02 to $0.05 each and Imagine video costs $0.02 to $0.08 per second, depending on the model. Speech to speech costs $0.08 per minute. Server-side web search costs $5 per 1,000 calls.

Three multipliers change the bill: Batch API is 20% cheaper on four listed text models, Priority Processing costs 2x, and the US regional endpoint costs 1.1x. xAI's FAQ says API credits are non-refundable.
- Free: no Grok API access. Plus and above: access included, usage billed separately.
- grok-4.7: $2.00 / $0.50 / $6.00 per million tokens (input, cached input, output) under 200,000 prompt tokens.
- Prompts of 200,000 tokens or more: $4.00 / $1.00 / $12.00.

## What happened to SuperGrok, SuperGrok Heavy and X Premium?

**Answer:** They continue for existing customers at their current price. Switching to The X Subscription is optional but permanent, and new self-serve customers choose from the new plans.

xAI's documentation says existing Cursor, SuperGrok and X Premium plans continue unless you change or cancel them, and that new self-serve customers choose from The X Subscription plans. Apple's App Store listing for Grok still lists SuperGrok in-app purchases at $10 (SuperGrok Lite), $30 (SuperGrok), $100 (SuperGrok Plus) and $300 (SuperGrok Heavy). The listing does not state the billing period, and we could not confirm which products a new iPhone buyer is shown. The consumer Grok documentation also still says SuperGrok for paid plans.

If you switch, the Cursor, SuperGrok and paid X Premium subscriptions you select are cancelled at checkout, and you get an automatic prorated refund for unused time. A new billing cycle starts on the day you switch. The switch cannot be undone, and canceling The X Subscription later does not restore your previous subscriptions. If you pay through Apple or Google Play, the refund and cancellation steps differ, so read the platform notes before switching.

X Premium+ holders who want to keep those X benefits should choose Premium or higher. The earlier X Premium and X Premium+ prices are not verified, because X's help center blocked our automated fetch.
- Keep your plan: nothing changes until you change or cancel it.
- Switch: permanent, prorated refund, new billing cycle from the switch date.
- Apple-billed Cursor subscriptions are not cancelled for you, so cancel them in iPhone or iPad Settings or Apple keeps billing you.
- Google Play purchases: check Google Play after switching and cancel any subscription still set to renew.

## Which Grok plan should you actually get?

**Answer:** Start with Premium ($30) if you want video, Grok Bot or the latest Grok models, pick Plus ($8) for light use and X creator tools, and move to Super or Ultra only if you keep reaching the weekly limit. If your main job is turning a brief into a finished document, deck or video, the comparison table also lists FluxGravity, which published this page.

Use the list below as a starting point, then watch your Usage tab for a week or two. xAI says upgrading is likely better value than repeated top-ups if you regularly pass your limit, but it publishes no absolute usage numbers, so your own usage meter is the only reliable guide.

The last bullet is where FluxGravity, the publisher of this page, fits. FluxGravity is an AI workspace and agent that turns a brief into documents, slide decks, spreadsheets, videos, research reports and social posts. We have not compared the two products' output, so read that bullet as a description, not a recommendation.
- You chat a few times a week and want the X checkmark: Plus, $8 a month.
- You want AI video generation: Premium or higher, because Free and Plus list no video.
- You want Grok Bot: Premium or higher, because Plus does not include it.
- You use Grok and Cursor most days: Super, $100 a month, which xAI recommends for daily agent users.
- You run heavy agent or media work every week: Ultra, $200 a month, 50x Plus's usage.
- You build with the API: your plan does not cover API usage, so budget API tokens separately.
- You manage a team: Premium, Super or Ultra seats at $30, $100 or $200 per seat.
- Your main job is a finished document, deck, spreadsheet, video or research report from a brief: see the FluxGravity row in the price comparison.

## How does Grok pricing compare with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and FluxGravity?

**Answer:** Four rivals sell a plan at about $20 a month (ChatGPT Plus $20, Claude Pro $20, Google AI Pro $19.99, Perplexity Pro $20), while Grok has no $20 tier: Plus is $8 and Premium is $30. FluxGravity's Pro plan is $20 a month and is priced in credits, not in a shared chat pool.

The prices below are plain facts from each vendor's own pages. They do not show which product gives more work for the money, because each vendor measures usage differently: Grok in multiples of Plus, Claude in multiples of Pro, Google in multiples of its free limits, Perplexity in weekly limits plus credits, and FluxGravity in monthly credits.

FluxGravity wrote this page and is included because readers comparing Grok plans may also be weighing a paid AI workspace. FluxGravity's Free plan gives 100 credits once, and its Spark, Pro and Ultra plans give 650, 2,800 and 7,000 credits a month at $5, $20 and $50. Paid credits renew monthly and do not roll over. Cost per document, deck or video is not known for any of these products, so this page does not compare cost per output.
- Grok: Plus $8, Premium $30, Super $100, Ultra $200 (annual $80, $300, $1,000, $2,000).
- ChatGPT: Go $8, Plus $20, Pro from $100 ($100, $200 or $500).
- Claude: Pro $20 ($17 a month billed annually), Max from $100.
- Gemini: Google AI Plus $4.99, AI Pro $19.99, AI Ultra from $99.99.
- Perplexity: Pro $20 or $200 a year, Max $200 or $2,000 a year.
- FluxGravity: Spark $5, Pro $20, Ultra $50 ($4, $16 and $40 a month billed annually).

## Why do the top Grok plans cost $100 and $200?

**Answer:** Because the price follows the size of the weekly usage pool: Super includes 15x and Ultra 50x the Plus pool, and heavy video and coding work drains a pool quickly. By our arithmetic on xAI's multiples, a unit of Plus-sized usage costs $8 on Plus, $7.50 on Premium, $6.67 on Super and $4 on Ultra.

xAI states included usage as multiples of Plus: 4x on Premium, 15x on Super and 50x on Ultra. Dividing each monthly price by its multiple gives $30 / 4 = $7.50, $100 / 15 = $6.67 and $200 / 50 = $4.00, against $8 for one unit on Plus. This is FluxGravity's arithmetic, not an xAI figure, and it assumes the multiples mean what the pricing page says: more usage compared to Plus.

The plan price also covers more than Grok chat. Premium and above include Cursor's cloud agents, code hosting and AI code review, Grok Bot, and full X Premium+ benefits. Extra Usage Credits cost more per action than included usage, and xAI points heavy users to a higher plan rather than top-ups.

None of this shows whether a plan is good value for you. That depends on how much of your weekly pool you actually use, which only your Usage tab can tell you.
- Plus: $8 for 1x, so $8.00 per unit.
- Premium: $30 for 4x, so $7.50 per unit.
- Super: $100 for 15x, so $6.67 per unit.
- Ultra: $200 for 50x, so $4.00 per unit.

## How much do Grok team and business plans cost?

**Answer:** Team seats cost $30 (Premium), $100 (Super) or $200 (Ultra) per seat a month, each with the same usage as the matching individual plan. Plus is not available for teams, Enterprise pricing is custom, and invoice billing is for Enterprise only.

Team plans include centralized billing and administration, usage analytics and the option to mix seat tiers, such as three Premium seats and one Super seat. Each paid seat has its own weekly pool, and the team shares one prepaid balance for extra usage. Admins set one monthly spending cap for the whole team, either a fixed amount or an amount per seat.

Adding a seat mid-cycle charges a prorated amount for the remaining days, and the billing date does not move. Upgrades to a seat apply right away with a prorated charge, while downgrades apply at the end of the billing period. A removed member's seat stays on your plan until you reduce seats, and removed seats come off at the end of the billing period.

The cursor.com plan table lists Teams at '$30+/user/month' and Enterprise as custom, with invoice and purchase-order billing, SCIM seat management and audit logs on Enterprise. Annual prices for team seats are not verified. A team that paid for the earlier Grok Business plan has it cancelled when it switches, with the unused days refunded.
- Premium seat: $30 a month. Super seat: $100. Ultra seat: $200.
- Mix seat tiers inside one team; Plus seats are not available.
- Each member gets X benefits by connecting their own personal X account.
- Enterprise: custom pricing, pooled usage, invoice billing.

## How do you cancel Grok or get a refund?

**Answer:** Cancel on the platform you bought on: the grok.com dashboard for web purchases, and Apple or Google Play for app purchases. Web and Google Play refunds go through xAI's refund form, with approved refunds typically reaching your original payment method in 5 to 10 business days, while Apple decides App Store refunds.

For The X Subscription, open Billing and invoices on the grok.com dashboard, open the options on your current plan and follow the prompts to cancel. xAI says you can cancel at any time, and the Cursor pricing page asks you to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid additional charges. A canceled team seat stays active until the end of the billing period.

Upgrades on the web start immediately. On an iPhone or iPad, a downgrade starts at the next billing cycle, and you do not receive a refund for the current period unless the law requires it. Self-serve plans accept cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link on the web.

xAI API credits are non-refundable. Extra Usage Credits are bought on the same dashboard, and credit grants from promotions are listed separately with their expiry dates.
- Web purchase: cancel under Billing and invoices on the grok.com dashboard.
- Apple App Store purchase: cancel in Apple subscription settings and request any refund from Apple.
- Google Play purchase: cancel in Google Play and request refunds through xAI's refund form.
- X Premium bought on X: X, not xAI, handles the refund.

New customers choose from four paid plans: Plus at $8 a month, Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200, plus a free plan. Paying yearly costs $80, $300, $1,000 or $2,000. Existing SuperGrok subscribers keep their plan and price unless they switch, and prices exclude sales tax.

### Does Grok cost any money?

Not to start. The Free plan costs $0 and lists limited Chat, Imagine and Grok Build. Video generation, Grok Bot and Grok API access need a paid plan, and the cheapest paid plan is Plus at $8 a month.

### Is Grok AI free of cost?

Grok is free to use with limits, and paid plans raise those limits. The pages we read give no message or image counts for the free allowance (not verified). If a paid plan's weekly pool runs out, paid features pause but the free tier limits on Chat and Voice stay available.

### Why is Grok so expensive?

The $100 and $200 plans include 15x and 50x the Plus usage pool, and Premium bundles Grok with Cursor tools, Grok Bot and full X Premium+ benefits. By our arithmetic, a unit of Plus-sized usage costs $8 on Plus, $7.50 on Premium, $6.67 on Super and $4 on Ultra. xAI also says extra credits cost more per action than included usage, so staying inside your plan costs less.

### What is the difference between SuperGrok and The X Subscription?

SuperGrok was the earlier Grok subscription, and Apple's App Store still lists it at $10 (Lite), $30, $100 (Plus) and $300 (Heavy) without a billing period. The X Subscription is the new plan for new customers and puts Grok, Cursor and X benefits on one shared weekly pool. Switching is optional, but it is permanent.

### Is the Grok API included in my plan?

Paid plans include Grok API access, but API usage is billed separately at standard model rates and does not draw from your plan's usage pool. grok-4.7 costs $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens for prompts under 200,000 tokens. The Free plan lists no API access.

### Is there an annual discount for Grok?

Yes. Plus is $80 a year ($7 a month), Premium $300 ($25), Super $1,000 ($84) and Ultra $2,000 ($167). By our arithmetic each annual price equals ten months of the monthly price. Annual prices for team seats are not verified.

### What happens when I hit my weekly Grok limit?

Paid features pause until the weekly pool resets, and the free tier limits on Chat and Voice still apply. You can buy Extra Usage Credits from $5, upgrade to a larger plan, or turn on Auto Top-up, which stays off unless you enable it.

### Can I get a refund on Grok?

It depends on where you bought. xAI handles web and Google Play refunds through its refund form and says approved refunds typically reach your original payment method in 5 to 10 business days, while Apple decides App Store refunds. xAI API credits are non-refundable.

### Does Grok have team or business pricing?

Yes. Team seats cost $30 (Premium), $100 (Super) or $200 (Ultra) per seat a month, each with the same usage as the matching individual plan. Plus is not available for teams. Enterprise pricing is custom, and invoice billing is for Enterprise only.

### How does Grok pricing compare with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity?

On October 18, 2026 the $20 tier was ChatGPT Plus $20, Claude Pro $20 ($17 billed annually), Google AI Pro $19.99 and Perplexity Pro $20, while Grok offers Plus at $8 and Premium at $30. Heavy-use tiers start at $100 for ChatGPT Pro and Claude Max, $99.99 for Google AI Ultra and $200 for Perplexity Max and Grok Ultra, and ChatGPT Pro reaches $500. Each vendor measures usage differently, so price alone does not show which gives more work.

### Where does the information on this page come from?

FluxGravity wrote this page from xAI's documentation, the Cursor plan table, Apple's App Store listing and the other vendors' own pricing pages, all read on October 18, 2026. We did not sign up for or test Grok. x.ai/pricing blocked our automated fetch, so check it for any change after that date.
