## Match the tool to the video, then check the meter.

FluxGravity authored this comparison. It is included for a narrow fit: explainer-style videos generated from a brief. Vyond, Animaker and Powtoon are the more directly relevant candidates when the job is character animation and team workflows.
- **Stay** for characters, avatars and brand controls
- **Switch** for price, a free plan or hand-drawn only
- **Check** credits, downloads and video length

## Should you stay on Vyond or look at alternatives?

**Answer:** Stay on Vyond if you need character animation in several styles, AI avatars, brand controls or team features, and the plan price fits. Look elsewhere if you want a lower monthly plan price, a free plan, hand-drawn videos only, or a video generated from a brief.

Vyond's FAQ lists four styles with premade characters and props: Business Friendly, Whiteboard Animation, Contemporary and Storybook, alongside more than 1,300 avatar options. Its higher tiers add collaboration, a Brand Management Suite and security features. This guide compares prices and stated limits, not feature parity, so a team that depends on those features should test an alternative on a real project before moving.

For a solo creator or a small team that mainly makes explainer videos, the pricing pages show lower entry plans billed monthly: VideoScribe Lite at $35, Animaker Starter at $45, Powtoon Lite at $49 and Doodly Standard at $49, against Vyond Starter at $99. They include different things, so read the comparison table before deciding.
- Stay if: you need Vyond's character styles, AI avatars, team collaboration, brand management or enterprise security.
- Switch if: a free plan, monthly billing at a lower plan price or a lighter feature set matters most.
- Switch if: you only need hand-drawn, whiteboard-style videos.
- Look at FluxGravity if: you want explainer, whiteboard or motion-graphics videos generated from a brief, and you accept credit-based pricing with no published cost per video.

## What does Vyond cost in 2026, and what does each plan limit?

**Answer:** Vyond Starter costs $99 a month, or $58 a month billed annually ($699), and Professional costs $199 a month or $100 a month billed annually ($1,199), per user. Enterprise ($137 a month) and Agency ($167 a month) are billed annually only.

The limits sit in three meters. Credits power AI features: Starter has 10,000 a month, Professional 20,000 and Agency 400,000, and Enterprise lists virtually unlimited. Monthly downloads cap at 100 on Starter and 200 on Professional, with virtually unlimited above. Maximum video length is 25, 40, 90 and 90 minutes across the four plans.

Credits go quickly on AI work. A Vyond Go generation from text, a document, a script or a URL costs 800 credits, avatar speech costs 40 to 50 credits per 10 text characters, and high quality text to speech costs 2 credits per 10 characters. At 800 credits each, Starter's 10,000 credits cover 12 full Vyond Go generations a month.

Plans also gate features. Team collaboration tools, 4M+ Shutterstock assets and instant translation into 95 languages start at Professional. The Brand Management Suite and advanced collaboration start at Enterprise and Agency, and Enterprise adds enterprise security features and 200+ ultra high quality voices. Enterprise and Agency list multi-seat pricing through sales.
- Free trial: up to 3 videos, no downloads, a watermark, 2,000 credits and no AI avatars.
- Paid plan trial, where offered: $10, 7 days, non-refundable, converting to a subscription unless canceled.

## Why do people look for Vyond alternatives?

**Answer:** This guide cannot know why any one customer leaves, so it lists only limits that Vyond's own pages state: a $99 monthly entry plan, annual-only upper tiers, credit, download and length meters, a trial with no downloads, and non-refundable fees.

None of these is a flaw on its own. Each matters only if it blocks your job, and several are the normal shape of a business video platform.
- Entry price: Starter is $99 a month billed monthly, or $58 a month billed annually.
- Annual-only tiers: Enterprise and Agency are not available for monthly subscription.
- Meters: credits, monthly downloads and maximum video length vary by plan, and AI generations spend credits.
- Trial: the free trial allows up to 3 videos with no downloads, and a paid plan trial, where offered, costs $10 and is non-refundable.
- Terms: subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off, and fees are non-refundable.
- Cancellation: you turn off auto-renewal, the change takes effect at the end of the period, and fees that fall due before then are still owed.
- Positioning: Vyond describes itself as an enterprise-ready platform, and its higher tiers add team, brand and security features.

## Is Vyond still GoAnimate, and did Vyond shut down?

**Answer:** Vyond is GoAnimate under a new name: its About page says GoAnimate relaunched as Vyond in 2018, and the company behind Vyond is still legally GoAnimate, Inc. Vyond has not shut down, but it did retire its Flash-based Legacy Video Maker in December 2019.

Vyond's own pages show the link. The About page says the company was founded as GoAnimate in 2007 and relaunched as Vyond in 2018, its terms of service name GoAnimate, Inc. as the provider of the Vyond Platform, and the site footer still reads GoAnimate, Inc. A Vyond blog post dated April 30, 2019 says GoAnimate became Vyond a year earlier.

As for a shutdown, Vyond's plans page, help center and terms of service (last updated September 10, 2026) were live on October 18, 2026. What did close was the Legacy Video Maker. Vyond's 2019 notice says it was built on Flash, which Adobe was retiring in 2020, that it would retire in December 2019, and that legacy videos would stay available to migrate to Vyond Studio, which is built in HTML5.

Plans have also changed over time. Vyond's help center download table still lists an Essential plan that the current plans page does not show, so older reviews may describe plans that no longer exist.

## How do the Vyond alternatives compare on price and limits?

**Answer:** Six alternatives are compared with Vyond below, with each price and limit read from the vendor's own page. They are not like-for-like: some make character scenes, some make hand-drawn videos, and FluxGravity generates videos from a brief.

The table lists the cheapest paid plan billed monthly, the annual price and the limit most likely to matter on that plan. Credits are not equivalent across vendors, so no row is a cost per video. The sections after the table cover each alternative in turn: what it does, its price and limits, who it suits and who should skip it.

## Animaker: a free plan and a character builder

**Answer:** Animaker has a free plan with watermarked exports, then Starter at $45 a month or $25 a month billed yearly ($300), and Pro at $79 or $43 ($516). It suits people who want to test an animated-video maker before paying.

Animaker describes an AI-powered platform for animation and live-action videos, with a character builder and thousands of templates. Its plan comparison lists custom characters you can build: 2 on Free, 15 on Starter and 30 on Pro. Starter allows 10 downloads a month at full HD and videos up to 15 minutes. Pro allows 30 downloads at 2K and videos up to 30 minutes. Its whiteboard page describes an AI prompt flow and 100+ whiteboard templates.

Commercial rights are listed from Pro, and Enterprise adds reselling, a brand kit and team licenses. Animaker's FAQ also mentions a Basic plan at $15 a month, but the plan cards read on October 18, 2026 listed Starter, Pro and Enterprise, and Basic is offered in some countries only. You can cancel from your account, and the plan stays active until the end of the billing period.

Best for: testers and small teams that want characters and templates at a lower entry plan price than Vyond Starter. Not for: client work on Starter, because commercial rights start at Pro.

## Powtoon: templates, AI tools and a free plan

**Answer:** Powtoon has a free plan, and paid plans cost $49, $99 or $199 a month, or $15, $40 or $125 a month billed yearly. It suits teams that want templates and AI tools with monthly billing on every paid plan.

Powtoon describes a unified AI video platform. Paid plans include AI credits: 300, 500 or 1,200 a year on yearly billing, and 150, 350 or 800 a month on monthly billing. Credit packs cost $49 for 125, $99 for 300 and $149 for 450. Advanced adds full character customization, full brand control, custom fonts and third-party reseller rights. Its whiteboard page describes hundreds of whiteboard templates.

The free plan gives 720p video up to 3 minutes with a Powtoon watermark. Lite removes the watermark on 5 exports a month, and maximum video length is 10, 20 and 30 minutes across the three paid plans. All paid plans include commercial rights. You can cancel at any time, and the plan stays active until the end of your billing period.

Best for: marketing and training teams that want templates and AI tools with monthly billing available. Not for: more than 5 watermark-free exports a month on Lite, or videos beyond 30 minutes.

## Renderforest: browser-based templates with a free plan

**Answer:** Renderforest has a free plan whose videos carry a watermark, and paid plans cost $9, $19 or $39 a month billed annually. Monthly-billing prices were not verified.

Renderforest offers a free online animation maker: sign up, pick a template, customize it and export. Lite exports up to 5 HD720 videos a month, Pro exports unlimited HD1080 videos, and Business exports unlimited videos up to 4K on templates that support it and includes a reseller license. A single HD1080 export without a subscription costs $24. Its whiteboard page describes 1000+ scenes for whiteboard or doodle videos.

AI video and image features run on credits, and the help center and pricing page list different credit allowances, so this guide does not compare them. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the expiration date.

Best for: template-led animated videos in a browser, at annual prices from $9 a month. Not for: Lite users who need more than 5 exports a month.

## Doodly and Toonly: doodle videos and cartoon explainers in one plan

**Answer:** Doodly costs $49 a month or $490 a year on Standard and $79 or $790 on Enterprise, with a 14-day trial. Both plans include Toonly, which Voomly describes as a cartoon explainer tool, so one plan covers doodle videos and cartoon scenes.

Doodly is a desktop app that draws images with a hand on a whiteboard, blackboard, glassboard or greenboard. Voomly's help center says Doodly videos have no action other than the hand, while Toonly makes cartoon explainer videos whose default characters can walk, run and jump. The Doodly plans list free access to the Standard or Enterprise versions of Doodly, Toonly and four other Voomly tools. Toonly's own limits were not researched for this guide.

Both plans list unlimited videos, and color images in Doodly need the Doodly Rainbow add-on at $67 one time. Doodly needs an internet connection and has no mobile or tablet app. The pricing page lists no team seats, and Voomly's terms ask for 10 days' notice to cancel. Our Doodly pricing guide covers every plan and term.

Best for: solo creators who want doodle videos and simple cartoon explainers under one subscription. Not for: teams that need shared seats, because the pricing page lists none.

## VideoScribe: scribe-style videos in a browser or on your computer

**Answer:** VideoScribe costs $35 a month or $150 a year on Lite, $60 or $255 on Core and $75 or $320 on Max, per license, with a 7-day trial that needs no card. It suits people who want scribe-style videos.

VideoScribe runs in a web browser or as a download and offers one-click animation styles, drawing hands, pens and erasers, and AI tools for images, scripts and voiceovers within monthly limits. Lite allows 5 video downloads a month and videos up to 5 minutes, Core allows 30 and 10 minutes, and Max allows unlimited downloads and 20 minutes.

Commercial rights are included on all subscription plans, reseller rights only on Max, and team licenses need Core or Max. The trial adds a watermark, allows 3 downloads and removes trial videos when it ends, so publish what you need. Subscriptions renew automatically, and canceling three business days before the next payment stops that payment.

Best for: educators and small teams who want a scribe-style editor with a no-card trial. Not for: videos longer than 20 minutes, or more than 5 downloads a month on Lite.

## Where does FluxGravity fit next to Vyond, and where does it not?

**Answer:** FluxGravity lists whiteboard videos, faceless explainers and motion graphics among its creation tools from the Spark plan, at $5 a month or $4 a month billed annually. FluxGravity wrote this page, and no one tested it against Vyond.

FluxGravity is an AI workspace and agent that turns a brief into finished work: documents, slide decks, spreadsheets and graphs, whiteboard and explainer videos, motion graphics and social posts. It is listed here for one narrow fit, explainer-style videos produced from a brief, and not as a like-for-like replacement for Vyond.

Plan prices, as plain facts: Free costs $0 with 100 credits once, Spark costs $5 a month ($4 billed annually) with 650 credits a month, Pro costs $20 ($16) with 2,800, and Ultra costs $50 ($40) with 7,000. The Free plan covers the documents and slides workflows, and whiteboard videos, faceless explainers and motion graphics start at Spark. Paid credits renew monthly and do not roll over.

Where it does not fit: FluxGravity's pricing page does not publish credits per video, so no cost per video can be set against Vyond's credits and download quotas. This page makes no claim about FluxGravity's character animation, team collaboration, brand controls, security features or video quality. Check those yourself if they matter.
- Fit: explainer, whiteboard or motion-graphics videos from a brief, alongside documents and slides.
- Not covered here: character libraries, brand management, team seats, security features and output quality.

## How should you choose between Vyond and its alternatives?

**Answer:** Start from what the video must do, then check the meter that limits it. The table pairs seven situations with the tools whose official pages fit them and the question to settle before paying.

None of these pairings comes from testing. Run the same short project in a trial or free plan, and count what you had to buy to finish it.

## What are some free alternatives to Vyond?

**Answer:** Animaker, Powtoon and Renderforest each list a free plan, and each adds a watermark or a short limit. VideoScribe and Doodly offer trials, and Vyond itself offers only a trial with no downloads.

A free plan is for testing, not publishing. Check the export cap and the maximum length before you plan a project around one.
- Animaker: free plan with watermarked exports and 3 downloads a month.
- Powtoon: free plan at 720p, up to 3 minutes, with a Powtoon watermark.
- Renderforest: free plan videos carry a watermark; the free export limits were not verified.
- VideoScribe: 7-day trial with no card, 3 downloads and a watermark.
- Doodly: 14-day trial with card details asked.
- FluxGravity: Free is $0 with 100 credits once and covers documents and slides; whiteboard videos, faceless explainers and motion graphics start at Spark.

## Frequently asked questions

### What are some free alternatives to Vyond?

Animaker, Powtoon and Renderforest each list a free plan, and each adds a watermark or a short limit: Animaker allows 3 downloads a month, Powtoon limits videos to 3 minutes at 720p, and Renderforest adds a watermark. VideoScribe offers a 7-day trial with no card and Doodly a 14-day trial. Vyond itself offers a trial of up to 3 videos with no downloads.

### Why did Vyond shut down?

Vyond has not shut down: its plans page, help center and terms of service, last updated September 10, 2026, were live on October 18, 2026. What closed was the Flash-based Legacy Video Maker, which Vyond retired in December 2019 because Adobe was ending Flash in 2020. Legacy videos could be migrated to Vyond Studio.

### Is Vyond still GoAnimate?

Vyond is the new name of GoAnimate. Vyond's About page says GoAnimate relaunched as Vyond in 2018, and the legal provider of the Vyond Platform is still GoAnimate, Inc. according to its terms of service. The company was founded as GoAnimate in 2007.

### Which is the No. 1 animation software?

No independent No. 1 could be verified, and this guide did not test any tool. Vendors make their own claims: Vyond calls itself the #1 enterprise-ready video creation platform, and Animaker says it was voted the No. 1 best design product of the world. Treat those as marketing and choose by job, price and limits.

### How much does Vyond cost?

Vyond Starter costs $99 a month, or $58 a month billed annually ($699 a year). Professional costs $199 a month or $100 a month billed annually ($1,199). Enterprise ($137 a month) and Agency ($167 a month) are billed annually only. Prices are per user, in US dollars on October 18, 2026.

### Does Vyond have a free plan?

Vyond's plans page lists no free plan. It offers a free trial: up to 3 videos, no downloads, a watermark and 2,000 credits. In some regions it also offers a paid plan trial for $10 that lasts 7 days, is non-refundable and converts to a subscription unless you cancel.

### Can you cancel Vyond at any time, and are fees refundable?

You can cancel at any time by turning off auto-renewal in your account, and the change takes effect at the end of the paid period. Vyond's terms say fees are non-refundable, and you must keep paying any fees that fall due before the period ends.

### Is Animaker cheaper than Vyond?

On list prices for the entry plan billed monthly, yes: Animaker Starter is $45 a month against $99 for Vyond Starter, and $25 a month billed yearly against $58. The plans differ. Animaker Starter allows 10 downloads a month, Vyond Starter allows 100, and Animaker lists commercial rights only from Pro.

### Which Vyond alternatives make whiteboard-style videos?

Doodly and VideoScribe are built around a hand-drawing effect, and Animaker, Powtoon and Renderforest each describe whiteboard options. Vyond also has a Whiteboard Animation style, described as hand-drawn sketch animations. FluxGravity lists whiteboard videos from its Spark plan.

### Does FluxGravity replace Vyond?

This guide does not claim that. FluxGravity lists whiteboard videos, faceless explainers and motion graphics among its creation tools from its Spark plan ($5 a month, or $4 billed annually), and its credits per video are not published. It makes no claim about character libraries, brand controls or team features, so teams that rely on those should compare carefully.

### How was this Vyond alternatives guide researched?

FluxGravity wrote it from the official pricing pages, help centers and terms of Vyond, Animaker, Powtoon, Renderforest, Doodly, VideoScribe and FluxGravity, all read on October 18, 2026. No one tested any product hands-on, and no customer reasons for switching are claimed.
