## Which animated explainer video maker should you pick?

**Answer:** Pick Vyond for branded, character-based business video, Animaker or Powtoon for animated characters at lower prices, Renderforest, Biteable or FlexClip for template toolkits, and FluxGravity only for whiteboard or faceless explainers made from a brief.

FluxGravity wrote this page. The title says best because this is a roundup, not a ranking: we compared seven tools on documented price, free access, limits and fit, using each vendor's own pages read on October 18, 2026, and we did not test any of them. FluxGravity is listed first because it publishes the page and has a narrow, stated fit. The order is an editorial choice, not a test result, and nothing here says FluxGravity is better than another tool.

Entry paid plans with a stated monthly price run from $5 a month (FluxGravity Spark) to $99 a month (Vyond Starter). Prices drop with annual billing, and the free options range from a 7-day trial to a free plan with watermarked exports. The shortlist table below shows each tool's entry plan, free option and main limit; the price table lists every plan.
- Branded character animation for teams: Vyond.
- Animated characters and whiteboard animation at a lower price: Animaker.
- Presentation-style animated explainers with a free plan: Powtoon.
- Low-cost template toolkits: Renderforest, Biteable, FlexClip.
- Whiteboard or faceless explainers from a brief, next to documents or slides: FluxGravity.

## How did we compare these tools?

**Answer:** We compared seven tools on six documented criteria: price, free access, video-length and export limits, watermark and commercial terms, animation and AI features, and fit for the job.

Every price, limit and feature comes from the tool's own pricing page, FAQ or product page, read on October 18, 2026. We list monthly and annual prices in US dollars before tax, because annual plans are usually cheaper per month but paid up front. Where a page did not state something, the table says not verified instead of guessing.

We left out quality judgments such as how good the animation looks, because we did not generate videos in any tool. The other limits of this roundup are in the methodology section: some pages showed prices in another currency, a few only show annual prices, and promotions change often.
- Price: monthly and annual, per plan.
- Free access: free plan or trial, watermark, length limit.
- Limits: maximum video length, export quality, downloads.
- Rights: watermark removal and commercial-use statements.
- Features: animation styles, templates and AI tools the page lists.
- Fit: the job each plan structure suits.

## FluxGravity: whiteboard and faceless explainers from a brief

**Answer:** FluxGravity fits when you want a whiteboard video, faceless explainer or motion graphic made from a brief that may also need a document or slides. It is listed first only for that narrow fit.

FluxGravity wrote this page and sells the product. FluxGravity is an AI workspace and agent that turns a brief into finished work: documents, PDFs, slide decks, spreadsheets and graphs, whiteboard and explainer videos, motion graphics, research reports and social posts. It is made by FluxNote, LLC. Video is one of those outputs, so FluxGravity is a wider AI workspace rather than a tool built only for explainer videos.

FluxGravity's pricing page lists whiteboard videos, faceless explainers, maths animations, motion graphics, product launch and ad videos, music videos and animated decks among its motion and storytelling workflows. They are part of all 39 workflows on Spark, Pro and Ultra, and the Free plan lists the documents and slides workflows. Plans are Free ($0, 100 one-time credits), Spark ($5 a month, $4 billed annually, 650 credits), Pro ($20, $16, 2,800) and Ultra ($50, $40, 7,000). Paid credits renew monthly and do not roll over. Concurrent creation jobs are 1, 2, 4 and 8 from Free to Ultra.

Limits to know: FluxGravity's pricing page does not name the underlying models and states no video length or export size, so check those before you rely on it. This page makes no claim about video quality or realism, and we did not test FluxGravity against the other tools. FluxGravity's pricing page does not list a template editor or an animated-character library, so if you need either, start with one of the tools below.
- Fits: whiteboard and faceless explainers from one brief.
- Free plan: 100 one-time credits, documents and slides workflows only.
- Paid plans from $5 a month ($4 billed annually).
- Not stated on the pricing page: models, video length, export size.

## Vyond: branded animated video with credits and per-user plans

**Answer:** Vyond's Starter plan is $99 a month, or $58 a month billed annually, for one user with 10,000 credits a month, 100 downloads a month and videos up to 25 minutes.

Vyond's pricing page lists Starter ($99 a month, or $58 billed annually at $699 a year), Professional ($199, or $100 per user at $1,199 a year), Enterprise ($137 per user billed annually) and Agency ($167 per user billed annually); Enterprise and Agency are not available monthly. Starter lists AI avatars, 650+ text-to-speech voices, screen and webcam recording, and text, document, script and URL to video. Professional adds team collaboration, 4M+ Shutterstock assets, translation into 95 languages and 20,000 credits.

Vyond's product page describes its Vyond Go flow in five steps: upload a file or enter a prompt, choose a layout, generate the video, edit or customize, then download and share. A Vyond Go generation costs 800 credits. The maximum video length is 25 minutes on Starter, 40 on Professional and 90 on Enterprise and Agency.

Free access is a trial: Vyond says trials include 2,000 credits and every trial export carries a watermark that is removed when you upgrade. Best for: business and training teams that want branded, character-based animated video with collaboration and are budgeting per user. Not for: a low-cost solo plan or a lasting free plan.
- Starter: $99 monthly, $58 annually; 10,000 credits; 100 downloads; 25 minutes.
- Professional: $199 monthly, $100 annually; 20,000 credits; 200 downloads; 40 minutes.
- Free: trial with 2,000 credits; trial exports watermarked.

## Animaker: character and whiteboard animation from $15 a month billed annually

**Answer:** Animaker lists a free plan with watermarked exports and paid plans of Basic ($15 a month billed annually), Starter ($25) and Pro ($43), with whiteboard animations on every paid plan.

Animaker's pricing page showed rupee prices to our location, so the dollar prices here come from Animaker's own comparison page. That page lists Basic at $27 a month or $15 a month billed annually ($180 a year), Starter at $45 or $25 ($300 a year), and Pro at $79 or $43 ($516 a year). The pricing page's FAQ says Basic is $15 a month, which matches, but we could not confirm the dollar prices on the pricing page itself, so treat them as not fully verified.

The feature lists are on the pricing page. Basic has 1,500 AI video credits a month, 5 minute videos, 5 premium downloads and HD quality; Starter has 3,000 credits, 90 seconds of generative video, 15 minute videos, 10 premium downloads and FHD; Pro has 5,000 credits, 180 seconds of generative video, 30 minute videos, 30 premium downloads, 2K quality and commercial rights. Whiteboard animations are listed on every paid plan. The FAQ says the free plan allows animated videos with a limited selection of premium assets and watermarked exports, and that all paid plans export without the watermark.

Best for: animated characters and whiteboard animation at a low price, with a free plan to test. Not for: long videos on the entry plan (5 minutes on Basic) or buyers who need dollar prices confirmed on the pricing page before purchase.
- Free: watermarked exports, limited premium assets.
- Basic: $15 a month billed annually ($27 monthly); 5 minute videos.
- Pro: $43 billed annually ($79 monthly); 30 minute videos; commercial rights.

## Powtoon: a free plan, a character builder and annual-only prices

**Answer:** Powtoon's Free plan is 720p with a Powtoon watermark and a 3 minute limit; paid plans are Lite at $15 a month billed yearly, Professional at $40 and Advanced at $125, with commercial rights on every paid plan.

Powtoon's pricing page lists Free (720p, up to 3 minutes, Powtoon watermark, basic templates and characters), Lite ($15 a month billed yearly, 10 minute videos, watermark removed on 5 exports a month, 300 AI credits), Professional ($40 billed yearly, shown against $70, 20 minute videos, 500 AI credits) and Advanced ($125 billed yearly, 30 minute videos, character lip-sync, reseller rights, 1,200 AI credits). The page shows only yearly-billed prices, so monthly prices are not verified, although the FAQ lists monthly credit amounts.

All paid plans include Powtoon branding removed, MP4 download, full HD, privacy control, commercial rights and 24/7 priority support. The Lite card, though, says watermark removal covers 5 exports a month, so check which applies to your exports before you rely on a clean export. The page's feature menu lists a character builder, realistic, cartoon, whiteboard and animation styles, and 10K+ animations. AI credits cover AI video, images, voice and avatars, and credit packs are 125 credits for $49, 300 for $99 and 450 for $149, all final and non-refundable.

Best for: presentation-style animated explainers where a free plan is useful for testing. Not for: buyers who need a published monthly price, or who need more than 3 minutes on the Free plan.
- Free: 720p, up to 3 minutes, Powtoon watermark.
- Lite: $15 a month billed yearly; 10 minute videos.
- Advanced: $125 a month billed yearly; character lip-sync; reseller rights.
- Monthly prices: not verified.

## Renderforest: a toolkit with video, logo and website tools from $9 a month billed annually

**Answer:** Renderforest's plans are Lite at $9 a month billed annually ($15 monthly), Pro at $19 ($39) and Business at $39 ($59), with yearly AI credits of 9,600, 28,800 and 72,000.

Renderforest's pricing page lists Lite ($9 a month billed annually, 9,600 credits a year, HD720 template exports), Pro ($19, 28,800 credits, HD1080 exports, a premium website on your own domain) and Business ($39, 72,000 credits, 4K exports). The struck-through $15, $39 and $59 are the monthly-billing prices. The comparison table lists 600, 1,200 and 3,600 minutes of text-to-speech and 10GB, 50GB and 100GB per seat of cloud storage, and a reseller license for up to 10 clients on Business.

Free access is stated loosely: the page says to try Renderforest free and get test credits, and the AI video editor page says it is free to start while paid plans add watermark-free HD exports, more generation credits and commercial licensing. The number of test credits is not stated, so it is not verified. The pricing page was in rupees to our location, so these dollar prices come from a dollar view of the page.

Best for: a low-cost toolkit that covers videos, logos, mockups and websites. Not for: anyone who wants a stated free-credit amount or a deep, character-driven animation library, which the page does not describe.
- Lite: $9 a month billed annually ($15 monthly), 9,600 credits a year.
- Pro: $19 ($39 monthly), 28,800 credits a year, HD1080 exports.
- Business: $39 ($59 monthly), 72,000 credits a year, 4K exports.

## Biteable: template videos with a 7-day trial and commercial rights on every plan

**Answer:** Biteable's Pro plan is $29 a month, or $15 a month billed yearly, for one user with videos up to 10 minutes; its trial is 7 days with no card.

Biteable's pricing page lists Pro ($29 billed monthly, or $15 a month billed yearly at $180 a year, 1 user, HD exports with no stated cap, videos up to 10 minutes, 20 avatar clips of up to 10 minutes a month) and Premium ($99 monthly, or $49 billed yearly at $588, 3 users, 4K exports, videos up to 20 minutes, captions and translation). Business is by contact, with no cap on publishers, and SSO. Its comparison table lists commercial usage rights on every plan.

The 7-day free trial needs no credit card and includes features, content and collaboration tools from the Pro and Premium plans, with seats for up to three team members. Biteable says annual plans save up to 50%, and you can cancel any time and keep publishing until the paid period ends. Plan lists include millions of stock clips and animations and an AI video builder.

Best for: quick template-based business videos where you want to test before paying. Not for: long videos on the entry plan (10 minutes) or a free plan after the trial, which the page does not list.
- Trial: 7 days, no credit card.
- Pro: $29 monthly, $15 billed yearly; 10 minute videos.
- Premium: $99 monthly, $49 billed yearly; 3 users; 4K.

## FlexClip: an editor with explainer templates and a free plan up to 720p

**Answer:** FlexClip's Free plan exports 720p with up to 12 projects and 10 minute videos; Plus is $19.99 a month, or $11.99 a month billed annually, and Business is $29.99 ($19.99).

FlexClip's pricing page lists Free ($0, 720p downloads, a free trial of AI features, 1 stock video and 1 stock audio per project, 12 projects, videos up to 10 minutes), Plus ($19.99 monthly, or $11.99 a month billed annually at $143.88, 1080p, 3,600 AI credits a year, no video length cap, 30GB of cloud space, no FlexClip watermark) and Business ($29.99, or $19.99 billed annually at $239.88, 4K, 9,600 AI credits a year, 100GB of cloud space). The Plus and Business cards list no FlexClip watermark; the Free card does not.

FlexClip's explainer page lists explainer video templates with Customize and AI Recreate options, plus animation explainer and kinetic typography use cases. The pricing page shows prices in rupees to our location, so the dollar prices come from a dollar view of the page.

Best for: editing-first explainers built from templates at a low price. Not for: character-animation libraries or whiteboard animation, which the pricing page does not list.
- Free: $0, 720p, 12 projects, 10 minute videos.
- Plus: $19.99 monthly, $11.99 billed annually; 1080p; no FlexClip watermark.
- Business: $29.99 monthly, $19.99 billed annually; 4K.

## Which of these tools have a free plan, and what do they limit?

**Answer:** Animaker, Powtoon, FlexClip and FluxGravity list free plans, Vyond and Biteable offer trials, and Renderforest says to try it free; every free option has a limit on length, exports, watermark or credits.

Animaker's free plan has watermarked exports and limited premium assets. Powtoon's is 720p with a Powtoon watermark and a 3 minute limit. FlexClip's is 720p, 12 projects and 10 minute videos. Vyond's trial has 2,000 credits and watermarked exports, Biteable's trial lasts 7 days with no card, and Renderforest does not state its test credits. FluxGravity's Free plan has 100 one-time credits and the documents and slides workflows, so its motion workflows need a paid plan.

Free plans are for testing, not for client work. If a free export matters, confirm the watermark and the commercial terms for that exact plan, and remember that a watermark usually stays on videos you made on the free plan.
- Animaker: free plan, watermarked.
- Powtoon: free plan, 3 minutes, watermarked.
- FlexClip: free plan, 720p, 10 minutes.
- Vyond and Biteable: trials, not lasting free plans.
- FluxGravity: 100 one-time credits.

## How much does a one-minute explainer video cost?

**Answer:** No vendor page we read states a price per finished minute, so the verifiable cost is the software plan: $5 to $99 a month on monthly billing for the entry plans here, less on annual billing, plus any add-on credits.

What the pages do show is what each plan limits. Animaker Basic caps videos at 5 minutes and 5 premium downloads a month, Biteable Pro at 10 minutes, Powtoon Lite at 10 minutes with watermark removal on 5 exports a month, and Vyond Starter at 25 minutes and 100 downloads a month. Vyond Go costs 800 credits per generation against 10,000 credits a month on Starter, which is 12 generations a month by our arithmetic, before editing.

We did not find verified prices for hiring an animation studio or freelancer on the vendors' pages, so this page does not quote one. If you budget in software only, add the cost of retries, voiceover or credit top-ups, and the time to write and review the script. Powtoon sells extra AI credits from $49 for 125, and Renderforest, Animaker and Vyond meter AI use in credits.
- Entry plans here: $5 (FluxGravity Spark) to $99 (Vyond Starter) a month billed monthly.
- Annual billing: $4 (FluxGravity Spark) to $58 (Vyond Starter) a month.
- Limits that raise the real cost: short length caps, download caps and credits.

## How do you make an animated explainer video?

**Answer:** Write one message and a short script, pick a style, build or generate the scenes, add voiceover and captions, then export at a length and quality your plan allows.

The steps below are editorial guidance, not a vendor claim. Most tools here follow the same shape. Vyond describes its instant flow as upload a file or enter a prompt, choose a layout, generate, edit and download. FlexClip, Biteable and Renderforest list templates you customize. FluxGravity starts from a brief.

Check three limits before you start: maximum video length on your plan, export quality, and whether your plan removes the watermark. If you will publish the video commercially, read the commercial terms for the plan, not the top plan.
- 1. Name the viewer and the one thing they should do after watching.
- 2. Write a short script: the problem, your answer and one next step.
- 3. Pick the style: characters, whiteboard, motion graphics or templates.
- 4. Build or generate the scenes, then edit the timing and text.
- 5. Add a voiceover and captions, and check pronunciation.
- 6. Export within your plan's length and quality limits, then review on a phone.

## What makes a good explainer video?

**Answer:** A good explainer video has one audience, one problem and one next step, and every scene supports the voiceover. We did not measure results, so this is editorial guidance and not a statistic.

Start with the viewer's question, not your product's feature list. State the problem in the first scenes, show the answer, and end with one action. Cut anything that does not help the viewer decide or do the next step.

Keep the format practical. Match the length to your plan's cap, add captions for viewers watching without sound, and reuse brand colors and fonts. Plans that offer brand kits or custom fonts, such as Vyond's Enterprise and Agency plans, FlexClip Plus, Powtoon Advanced and Biteable Premium, help when several people make videos.
- One audience, one message, one call to action.
- Short script, then match scenes to it.
- Captions and a clear voiceover.
- Review length and exports against your plan's limits.

## Which tool should you pick for your job?

**Answer:** Match the job to the plan structure: Vyond for teams, Animaker for low-cost characters and whiteboard animation, Powtoon for a free test, Renderforest or FlexClip for template toolkits, Biteable for a no-card trial, FluxGravity for a brief-driven whiteboard or faceless explainer.

The table under this section lists the job, the tool to start with and what to check before paying. It is a shortlist built from documented plan features, not from testing. Start on the cheapest plan that removes the watermark and allows your video length, and move up only when a limit blocks you.

Other whiteboard-style tools are covered in our guides to whiteboard animation software and Doodly pricing, and our Vyond alternatives page compares other Vyond substitutes.
- Teams with brand rules: Vyond Professional or above.
- Low-cost solo animation: Animaker Basic or Starter.
- Free test with characters: Powtoon Free.
- Fast templates with a trial: Biteable.
- Brief-driven whiteboard or faceless explainer: FluxGravity, with the limits above.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does a one-minute explainer video cost?

No vendor page we read states a price per finished minute. What we can verify is the software: entry plans here run from $5 to $99 a month billed monthly, or $4 to $58 billed annually, and each plan caps length or credits. We did not find verified prices for hiring an animation studio, so we do not quote one.

### What makes a good explainer video?

One audience, one problem and one next step, with every scene supporting the voiceover. This is editorial guidance, not a measured result. Keep the script short, add captions, and match the video length to your plan's cap, such as 5 minutes on Animaker Basic or 10 minutes on Biteable Pro.

### Which animated explainer video makers have a free plan?

Animaker, Powtoon and FlexClip list free plans: Animaker's has watermarked exports, Powtoon's is 720p with a 3 minute limit and watermark, and FlexClip's is 720p with 12 projects. Vyond and Biteable offer trials, Renderforest says to try it free, and FluxGravity's Free plan has 100 one-time credits and the documents and slides workflows.

### How do entry prices compare?

On annual billing, entry plans are FluxGravity Spark at $4 a month, Renderforest Lite at $9, FlexClip Plus at $11.99, Animaker Basic, Powtoon Lite and Biteable Pro at $15, and Vyond Starter at $58. Entry price does not show what a plan lets you make: plans differ in length caps, credits and features, and FluxGravity's cost per output is not known.

### How long can an explainer video be on each tool's entry plan?

Animaker Basic allows 5 minutes, Biteable Pro and Powtoon Lite 10 minutes, and Vyond Starter 25 minutes. FlexClip's Free plan allows 10 minutes and Plus lists no length cap. Renderforest's and FluxGravity's pricing pages state no video length for their entry plans.

### Can I use animated explainer videos commercially?

It depends on the plan. Powtoon lists commercial rights on all paid plans, Biteable lists commercial usage rights on every plan, and Animaker lists commercial rights on Pro. Renderforest says paid plans add commercial licensing. Read the exact plan terms, and note that FluxGravity's pricing page states no commercial-use terms.

### Do these tools add watermarks on free plans?

Mostly yes. Animaker's free plan has watermarked exports, Powtoon's Free plan has a Powtoon watermark, Vyond says only free-trial videos carry a watermark, and FlexClip lists no FlexClip watermark only on Plus and Business. Biteable's trial and Renderforest's test credits did not state watermark rules on the pages we read.

### Can an AI tool make an animated explainer from a script?

Several list it. Vyond Go turns a prompt, script, document or URL into a video at 800 credits per generation, Biteable lists an AI video builder, and Powtoon lists AI text to video. FluxGravity lists whiteboard and faceless explainer workflows on its paid plans. We did not test any of them, so we make no claim about output quality.

### Why is FluxGravity listed first in a roundup it wrote?

FluxGravity publishes this page and has a narrow stated fit: whiteboard and faceless explainers made from a brief, next to documents or slides. The order is an editorial choice, not a test result. FluxGravity's pricing page does not list a template editor or character library, and we did not test it against the other tools.

### How was this animated explainer roundup researched?

We read the pricing pages, FAQs and product pages of Vyond, Animaker, Powtoon, Renderforest, Biteable, FlexClip and FluxGravity on October 18, 2026. We did not make videos in any tool, so the page makes no claim about animation quality or realism. FluxGravity wrote this page.
